Slowly but surely, your baby has grown to measure one inch in length and graduates from a fertilized egg to an embryo. Your baby's heart is pumping while its facial structure is coming to life. Eyes, ears, nose and lips are forming, and your baby now has the ability to shimmy around. You won't feel the baby's movements for another couple of months, but he or she has several of the basic organs found in a fully functioning adult. Arms and legs are well formed during this stage, and your baby's fingers and toes grow longer.
You may discover the unglamorous side of pregnancy this month: morning sickness and fatigue may begin to take hold. Keeping a little bit of food in your stomach at all times can help stave off waves of nausea, and while it may be difficult, try to maintain a healthy diet. Your breasts also will still be sore and your areolas and nipples will grow darker. The hormones circulating through your body might amplify emotions, but by the end of next month, these side effects may subside as you near the beginning of your second trimester.
