This month your baby looks increasingly human but still cannot survive outside the womb. Sweat glands begin to form on his or her palms and soles, tooth buds are developing, and gender is identifiable! Your baby weighs six to seven ounces and measures 6 1/2 to 7 inches tall. Your baby's eyelids are fully developed, but will remain shut until sometime next month; however, your baby may be listening to your voice since the ears are fully functioning. During the fourth month, your baby means business; you will now feel kicking or wiggling inside your belly.
Many women say their second trimester is the most enjoyable - more energy, less morning sickness, but not too big. This grace period is in limbo between the fatigue and nausea of the first trimester but not yet acquainted symptoms associated with the third trimester. Daily prenatal exercises will help keep you and your baby fit and healthy as well as ease certain pregnancy symptoms and prepare your body for labor.
