Stages of Labor

Third Stage of Labor

While you are experiencing feelings of euphoria and happiness after delivering your baby, your uterus will begin contracting again - you still need to deliver your placenta. Just a couple of contractions will separate your placenta from the uterine wall, and it usually takes only one push to deliver your placenta. This stage only lasts approximately five to 10 minutes.

Fourth Stage of Labor

The fourth and final stage of labor is considered the postpartum period because your body is still undergoing many changes. Contractions at this point are non-existent except for a few afterbirth pains that feel like menstrual cramps.

Now that you've survived the four stages of labor, you can share your new baby with friends and family members!
